Windows Media Player 10 not ripping correctly!

I have bought a large number of commercial music CD's over the years. Since
my boombox was in the same room as my computer, I played them on that.
However, I finally decided to "make the plunge" and put some of my favorites
on the Library in the Windows Media Player (as I know the original disks can
get damaged).

When I went to rip them to the Library, all I got was Track Numbers, no
album information whatsoever - the "album name" was just "unknown". When my
husband ripped a few of his music CD's to his computerin the past, all the
information came up perfectly. By the way, we both have the same edition of
Windows XP. I have found that I can sit and manually type in the
information, but that would be a REAL PAIN for a number of disks.

I went to the Windows Media Online Help, and they suggested that I do the
following for ripping commercial CD's:

On the player, click "Rip" and the "Find Album Info" tab. It mentioned that
a message might come up about changing your Privacy settings (and it did come
up on mine). They then said to click on "Tools", "Options" and the "Privacy"
tab, which I did.

Next they said to click on the "Update music files by retrieving media info
from the Internet" check box. However, this option is "grayed out" and
unavailable to be checked. I have tried to look through several "Help" areas
but couldn't find anything about this.

I would really appreciate not having to enter all that CD information
manually - it would take me months!

Can someone help me out with some suggestions? Thank you!!

Have you looked on the library tab (tools>options>library) and the security tab. They both have options to go to the internet for information on cd's. I have tried to duplicate your problem, but can't. Only suggestion I have, other than going to the Windows Media newsgroup, they cocentrate on WMP there and you are more likely to get the answer there.
