enabling the line-in feature for ripping from cassett player

I have ripped from cassett player in past on different computer and win 98
but need to use new computer and win xp to rip from external source. I saw
that the line in feature is disabled by default and needs to be enabled to
rip. How do I do that? I cannot find anything in control panel that will
allow me to do this.

If your audio card supports line in, it would be enabled through the sound
card software or properties. Double click on your sound icon in the system
tray and see what comes up. Or right click on it and see what your options
are. You can also access it in control panel under 'sounds and audio
devices.'
