Bought my son an inexpensive MP3 player - came with its own software "music
express" pretty simple instructions to "rip" CD's but when I get to the "rip
CD" button a little Windows XP pop up would come up asking me what I wanted
to use to download ie itunes, media player etc, I'm thinking none of the
above I'm using this software so I choose the big Red O with the line through
it saying use none of these and leave checked the "don't ask me this question
again" you guessed it now I can't rip any CD's and can't find a way to
reaccess that pop up to change my answer. Tried going into "set program
defaults" but can't see to find what I need. HELP HELP

Right click on the drive in My computer and select properties. Click on the
autoplay tab. Set it to music CD and tick the prompt me box.

Perhaps you can try this question in the "music express" software forum if there's any.

Note that you can rip CDs using Windows Media Player version 10 and higher. See:

Music Express' support is found here:
http://www.wizetech.com/mex/index.shtml

No FAQ page that I can see, just an e-mail. Ramesh's advice regarding
alternative programs is very good and Music Express support would be the
place to go if you really, really want that software to work again.

The software to "RIP" music may depend on the File Types association in
Windows, and you can access your current settings by going to "My Computer" >
"Tools" > "Options..." > "File Types" and noting the "Extemsions" association
for "MP3". At least this is one place to look, I have no idea as to whether
Music Express uses another File Type extension as an intermediate step in
their process of 'Music CD'-to-RIP-to-MP3.

Good luck!
