Media Player Version 10 Can't Copy Music CD in MP3 Format

The Video Editor I'm using only supports MP3 or WVA. Everytime I try
selecting MP3 in Media Player I get an error message: "Windows Media Player
cannot rip (copy) the track from the CD because no compatible MP3 encoder is
installed on your computer. Install a compatible MP3 encoder, or choose a
different format for tracks ripped from CDs (such as Windows Media Audio)."
Do I need to purchase the plug in? I'm trying to add music to my home
videos. To me it appears MP3 should be part of Media Player 10
already...what am I missing.

Thanks,

Hi Dan,

I use version 10 all the time to encode MP3. Can't remember if I did
anything special though. I do have the Lame encoder on my system. Maybe WMP
is using that. But I thought it had its own encoder. Sorry I can't be of
more help. I'll try to dig around and see if I installed an encoder or not.
