I can't rip in MP3 format using version10 media player

I am trying to rip CD's I own onto my hard drive in MP3 format, using Media
Player version 10. I get an error message saying: "WMP cannot rip the track
because a compatible MP3 encoder is not installed." Then it tells me to
either install one or use another format such as WMA.

I'm new to this but I have had success ripping in the default format. I
thought the version 10 WMP supported MP3. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

i know ur problem, but i dnt know if i can solve it for u. however, i can
offer an alternative that i used to use when i had this problem, but now i
have a new pc! but anyway, i used "cd burner xp pro" coz it was good at
ripping dammaged cds, and best of all, its free! it can also burn cds, which
i found useful, coz WMP hasnt yet learnt the art of buring MP3 data cds. lol.
hope that helps. any questions, emial me on (e-mail address removed)
