Windows Media Player 10 library

I want to completely rebuild my library from scratch. I've used WMP to
select all music then delete from library only. Trouble is that when I
then press F3 it misses half of my files even though all my music is
in subdirectories of the music folder.

Whatever I set the advanced search options/add files previously
deleted to it goes ahead and adds them anyway.

I'm running Windows XP SP2 fully updated.
