okay i just bought a new (or new to me) pc, i had a pc running MCE 2002, and
the new one is MCE2005 both running wmp 11. I have an extensive library of
music on the old machine dating back 3yrs. i keep my music on a external hard
drive so i can take it to friends houses etc... i want to move to the new pc
but cant because easy file transfer wizard doesnt transfer the music library
database over... so i still have to use the old pc to play my music. granted
i know how to reload the library on the new pc but that rewrites the file
dates and everything becomes listed under the same date thats unacceptable...
i want my new pc's media player to mirror my old media player library and
keep the dates intact... how do i accomplish this? i have tried moving over
the *.wmdb files from old pc to new pc and wmp fails to load the library
correctly. cans omeone please help me get this resolved so i can be done with
the old pc and give it to my niece... PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Incorporate the date into the file name on all your files. That way, you
will be able to sort them on date, as well as file name/ I keep records like
this on Excel. I have a name column, a date column, a composer column, a
recording artist column, a location column, and I can put anything else I
might need in any subsequent column. Then I can sort these on any column I
want, and have a list in any order I want......An excellent way to keep an
index of anything you have, whether music, books, items in your house, or
anything else.

No. - Unless there is some way of importing your present list into Excel.
Perhaps Microsoft's help team can help you with this........
