My Windows Media library consists of 1700+ CD tracks that
were downloaded from either a commerical CD or a custom
made CD from a friend. Here is the question: How do I
back-up my library from my laptop, which has a CD/DVD
port to a stand alone Sony CD burner/player? Our local
Radio Shack recommended backing up the files as a "data"
CD. Do I save the Media Library as one play list first,
then attempt to save the play list as a "data" CD? I am
not sure of the paricular steps, however.
Naturally, of concern here is(and perish the thought)a
computer crash and a total loss of the library, which
happened earlier this year.
Help with some straight-forward instructions are
welcomed. too.

You can copy from the player if the tracks are in wmp library,if not
the best way is to use xp file transfer wizard, select current computer as old
transfer all files to a folder then to cd,but 1700 tracks, hmmmm. No single c
would hold everything,it might take a little time but id create new users, brea
up the tracks to each, then use file transfer in each user account to transfer.I don
think file transfer would/can break up the data file for individual cds.
