Windows Mail v. Windows Mail Live

Juls

Have Windows Mail on PC with Vista. New laptop has Windows 7. Want to
access email from laptop but must download Windows Mail Live in order to do
so. It forces me to change my email address to their default address at
hotmail. There is no place for "other" and the ability to type in my own.
Any ideas - besides buying a Mac that is?

Put Windows Mail onto your Win 7 computer. it works well for me:-

1. Copy complete folder "Windows Mail" from your Vista PC to your Win
7 laptop - put it into

c:\Program Files\Windows Mail

2. Look in the folder for

Winmail.exe

and create a shortcut to it (desktop, task bar or start menu, wherever
you like.)

3. Start it up and go for it!

Only problem, I do not know of a way to make it your default email
program. If you click on an email link in a web page, say, you will
need another email program for the link to use such as Windows Live or
Thunderbird. But I very rarely use such links so it does not really
worry me.
