Windows Mail Recieving NOT SENDING?!?!?!?

Hey

Just setup my account and linked in my aol account. I am recieving mail (new
and old) from my account with ease....but am hitting a wall when sending
outgoing mail. I keep getting error messages that sending failed. PLEASE
HELP!!!!!!!!

changed the port to 587 and still no good....this is the error message:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account:
'imap.aol.com', Server: 'smtp.aol.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

"Connection to the server has failed" is often caused by a non-
compatible antivirus. Which antivirus are you running?

i am running the free version of AVG

If AVG was installed using the default install option, it can cause problems
in Windows Mail. If so, uninstall AVG, then reinstall using the custom
install option, which then allows you to deselect the installation of the
mail scanning module. That mail scanning module is what causes the
problems in Windows Mail.

haha...i swear im cursed....its not that either. I uninstalled AVG and tried
sending mail and still didnt work. Tried running the default ports and then
587 on outgoing port....nothing is working still....this is driving me NUTS

Very strange! Are you running any other third party security software
such as antispyware or firewall?

Is AOL your only mail provider? As a test, you might get a free account
from Gmail and try that.
