Windows Mail - No server

I can't get my Windows Mail to work. Everytime I open it a screen pops up
telling me to select the service I want to connect to, I check 'connect
automatically', and then it tells me that it can't establish a connection.
The window that pops up is a Dial Up Connection window, but I am on DSL, so I
don't dial. I'm sure this is an easy fix by checking or unchecking some sort
of box in my settings, but I have no clue how to do it. Please help!!!

Go to Tools, Accounts, select your mail account, Properties, Connection.
What does it show for connection?
You must either leave that unselected (in which case WM will use whatever
connection IE uses), or else select the Local Area Network.

Also, under Tools, Options, Connection, the first box should be checked,
and the second box unchecked.

Thank you for responding. I think I have found a problem. When I try to
click on the connection tab under account properties, the program freezes and
shuts down. Any idea why that is happening?

It means that particular mail account is corrupted. Delete the account,
restart Windows Mail, then recreate the account. The new account wizard
will choose the correct connection type automatically.
