Windows Mail Newsgroups attachments

Recently while reading headers in a couple of newsgroups I have been unable
to see any attachments that were sent by the poster. A couple of times they
were Scripts being attached. I have checked my options in Tools but they
look alright to me. Can you help?

Perhaps your antivirus program is blocking the attachments.
Which antivirus are you using?

Hi Gary,

I use Avast. I will check the settings there and then let you know. By the
way, thanks for the response.

Gary,

Me again. I checked my anti-virus and there is nothing checked off there
that would prevent me from seeing attachments. I then thought of something,
I also use Forte Agent for some groups and always am able to see and download
attachments from there, so this has to be a Vista thing. I always have
Windows Defender in the Off position so it cannot be that. Hopefully someone
here can come up with something. Thanks agasin.

Did you check Tools | Options | Security?

If you used the standard install for avast!, it may help to uninstall it,
then
do a custom install where you tell it to leave out the part that scans
email.
I didn't find anything relevant in the settings either - or even many
settings.

Frank & Gary,

I will do the unistall/reinstall, everything I attempted yesterday could not
fix it. I did the Security thing Frank, but it didn't change anything, but
appreciate the advice.

Later,
