windows mail is a piece of crap

HP already sent me a box but I trashed it. It first worked lousy , but after
a few fixes it ran ok and I have it on my network now. If only the windows
mail would work faster. I may have to send for another box though , I'm
going online with HP today as I have been too busy the past two or three
weeks after going crazy the first week I had this. I hate to start over as I
have everthing the same as my older machine a 98 and my other machine a xp
and a laptop xp pro. Do you think MS will fix the folder option in contacts
soon and work on speed. It's funny that I went to task manager and watch as
I loaded and unloaded windows mail and it used between 100kb to 260 kb's and
between 5 % to 50% cpu. all over the chart the many times I loaded it up and
did replys and forwards. Is there something about having a duo system and
spliting the ram up that makes it slower. Thanks for your help , with
Mickey , Isaac and you helping I think all those poor souls out there having
all this trouble with windows mail can be helped until MS fixes it.

Isaac you and Steve seem to have what's going on with windows mail down,
and
Dguess sounds like a microsoft commerical. I have been working on trying
to
get some answers for 4 weeks. Everything seems to work fine except
windows
mail and it is going to make me older than I am. It takes over a minute
to
get reply or forward up. And the contacts forget it . No one has told
me
how to see my folders that I saved from OE and if I find them how to bulk
mail. I have a new machine HP load with vista home premium , 1 gb ram ,
amd
3800 and it locks up occasionally more than my xp ever did , about as much
as
my 98 did, so I think Microsoft has gone backwards and I don't care about
"databases" just want speed and free of fixes. The last fix Dguess gave
Domnick made me throwup although it probably did fix the problem.

I have to ask why you don't try another program?

Isaac, I'm going to give it one more try with live chat online as I don't
like to call as it's hard sometimes to understand and sometime too fast for
me, I would rather see it in black and white.

OK, best of luck with it.
At least if you decide to leave WM behind there are many free alternatives.

Try opening Windows Calendar and closing it. Some have reported that speeds
up WinMail.
Don't expect any fixes from MS in the reasonable future.

I'd say "you get what you pay for" because it's "free", but the cost of Vista
should have included a more functional email program.

No need to be rude. Ask a more specific question to get a more specific
answer instead of being curt.

Windows mail works fine for ISP-based emails, such as sbcglobal.net.
However, now that Yahoo and AT&T have bought them and are demanding users
upgrade the account settings for more "security", Windows mail will not be
such a good option.

I am seriously considering buying Windows XP just so I have a system that is
functional. Unfortunately, all of MS's lackies will stop making software to
work in XP.

All my emails are archived in Outlook Express.

Windows Mail is a farce and something better should have been included with
Vista. I installed Outlook 2003, but it couldn't import anything from
Windows Mail.

I should not have to look for another free email program when the one that
comes with the operating system should function properly and the way it has
for ages.

Many of the free emails will not integrate well with Vista or MS will place
some type of block preventing its use. Remember AOL and MSN messenger fiasco?

The email program that is part and parcel of the operating system should
provide proper functionality!

What is NDA?

Who says it wasn't tested properly? There's a lot you don't know and
apparently won't know.

One of the reasons you won't hear anything from the MVPs right now is caused
by NDA,

Why do professional business men dress in a white shirt, tie and
jacket? It gives them a professional appearance, which in turn
translates into customer trust. Appearance counts.
I'm sure KMart clothes are very functional, but it many social
circles, the presence of upscale designer labels is a plus.

Frankly, I would not make online purchases from a seller
who only offered a Hotmail address. I insist on seeing a
registered domain name for a seller.

You're not making any sense.
Why would increased security settings for AT&T/Yahoo
customers make Windows Mail not a good option?
As an AT&T/Yahoo customer I can vouch that both WM and WLM
have no problems with those settings.
