Windows mail and removing messages from server

I am running Vista Home Basic with Windows Mail. Since I access messages
from several locations, I use the advanced setting to 'leave messages on
server' and remove them from the server only when they are deleted from
'deleted items'.

Are there any known issues on this where the messages do not get removed
from the server with these settings? It seems that even when the messages
are deleted from the 'deleted items' folder, they are staying on the server.
Not sure if this may be a problem with Windows Mail or the Verizon FiOS mail
server. I may try Windows Live Mail, which runs fine on Vista to see if
there is any difference.

Thank you for any feedback

As far as I know, Windows Mail does not have a bug in that setting.
Some mail providers do not honor the mail client's command to
delete messages from the server. I think Gmail is one of those.

Thanks Gary. I also posted to an internal Verizon group to see if it may be
a problem there.
I don't see the problem too much on my account but mine is the primary
account. We see the problem mostly with sub accounts that I created for my
family members.
