I made the mistake of downloading the Windows GDI & detection tool on Windows
XP SP2, after I had upgraded Windows Media Player to Version 10. It required
rebooting, then the system would not come up except in "safe" mode. The
driver that was failing was mup.sys. I couldn't remove the update, so I had
to rollback the system by 2 weeks for it to boot normally. Windows Media
Player 9 seems to have no problem with it. This is troublesome because now I
have to redo all the settings I had for the internet. (changed isp's during
this time).
2 Questions -
Can the GDI update be removed manually so that I can restore the system back
to the date I downloaded the nasty file?
What is in the difference within the Media player that the driver would
interact fatally with the update?
