When I attempt to install software, I am told: This installation package
could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access
it, or contact the application vendor to verify this is a valid Windows
Installer package. I have been told the Windows Installer is corrupt but I
cannot even find it.

Is there a solution?

I have Windows XP home edition; IE7; Firefox 3.
