hi,

i too am having that problem.. it seems that any installation that
uses windows installer is giving me probs,

it gets stuck while "configuring windows installer" and gives me an
"Error 1607" or "Error 1608"

thanks

Same question for you then also, what version of windows are you
running? I can give you both instructions to reinstall/repaid the
windows installer, but it is version specific. Also, if you don't want
to wait for my reply, goto microsoft's web site and search for "windows
installer" to find instructions for it's repair.

on this website

Hello,

I'm having the same type of 1607 errors. I have searched my entire hard
drive (hidden and unhidden files) for the "installer" file and cannot locate
it. Is there a particular page on the MS site that tells me how to repair the
installer for Win XP SP2? I can't seem to find that (I find lots of other
articles about installer, but not this one). Thanks.
