Every time I start my laptop Windows Installer flashes up
on screen (several times). No error messages are generated.

Windows Installer also flashes up frequently when I open
webpages, especially with sites I haven't visited before -
but not always and not on all new or previously viewed
webpages.

I am running Win 2000, with all recent service packs/
upgrades installed.

Any ideas as to why this problem occurs? It is more of an
annoyance than a problem however I am worried it could be
the start of something more serious.

couple of things mate.

1. do you have any spyware checker i.e. spybot,adware to
mention 2 if you have try running it, if not successful.
do you have a pop up stopper this may also stop the prob.

but as you say it may be more serious. dont pcworld it as
there rip off's but i do recomend waiting on here for a
bit. it takes a little time but someone does eventually
come along.
