Windows installer problem

I tried to follow some advice from the helpcentre part. Tried a couple of
things from the threads I found here, but i'm still have problems with
windows installer.

The erros msg I get from one particular program is this...
"Product: Decal 3.0 -- Error 1335. The cabinet file 'product.cab' required
for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a
network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this
package."

I'm installing that item from a saved file on my harddrive. I am on a home
network, but the file is on the local machine.

I have tried the "msiexec /unregister" and "msiexec /regserver" things.
I have uninstalled windows installer using add/remove programs and then
re-downloaded and installed it as an automatic update.

I'm running window xp home edition with Service pack 2 (as far as i'm aware)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, dev

The error message is referring to a corrupted installation file - the one
for the program that you're trying to install. Have you tried getting a
fresh copy of that yet?

Thankyou for your reply.

Yes i had downloaded the file again. I even downloaded to a different
location as well to make sure it was perfectly fresh. *that's just the way
my brain works*.

However, I did it again just now as i hadn't tried re-downloading it since i
did a few of the other things. And it seems to have worked. hehe, ty!

You're welcome. Sometimes the file on the download server is corrupt. Not
common but can happen. Perhaps the case in this instance. Regardless, glad
to hear that you now have your program installed successfully!
