Windows Installer files are corrupted

After I upgraded to Windows XP from ME almost every
program I try to install including Norton's SystemWorks
2003 will not install.

I get a message that says the Windows Installer files are
corrupted. Norton's sent me to the Microsoft.com website
to download a new one, but I can't find it.

I had to download new drivers for my scanner and even they
will not install. I get the same message...Windows
Installer files are corrupted.

Can anyone tell me what to do now?

Just for everyone elses information. I received 4 email
replies to this message. Two claimed to be updates
including patches from microsoft and had attachments, two
just had attachments without much info.

My ISP caught all 4 and quarentined them so I was
protected.
However some of you may want to chech your systems. I
prefer to think these were sent by accident and not that
someone on these newsgroups would use them to spread
virus' to people trying to find help.

Also I would like to thank Mary. I will try out the page
you mentioned and see what I can get.
