XP System Files corrupted by Norton Uni-Install

Rick Jaws

In the process of having Norton Internet Security uni-install previous
programs (including Systemworks 2003), either my Registry was corrupted or
some system libraries were corrupted. Now, no .exe's work. I can get to
internet, but can used any .exe's to help fix the issue. Moroever, I can't
get to previous SYstem Restore point because when I follow prompts I get
rrundll.exe error.

Any suggestions...is there a command line prompt or editor I can use to
resolve problems....I have already spent 4 hours pouring through blogs, FAQs,
etc....Norton Support has "punted" back to a WindowXP problem.

In view of the fact that there may be other latent problems, I would tend to
favour a partition-format and reinstall from scratch. After which, don't let
anything named 'Norton' or 'Symantec' within a barge-pole's length of the
computer.
