Windows Installer error

Hi,

I am getting an error whenever I try to install a program,
'The windows installer service could not be accessed. This can occur
if you are running windows in safe mode or the windows installer is
not correctly installed. contact your support personnel for
assistance.

I am running windows xp sp2 with mozilla.

I have tried re installing using windowsinstaller-kb893803-v2-x86.exe,
to no avail.
Can anyone please shed any light on this for me?

Try the following:-

Start>Run>type in: command>OK

In the command.com window:-

Type msiexec /unregister and press Enter.
Type msiexec /regserver and press Enter.

Access Denied

Though I do have Admin rights in my user group, supposedly......
