windows installer doesnt work

as the subject title states, my windows installer doesnt work. i go to
"components" click on "local services" and once u get to windows installer in
the list, it seds "start this service". i click on start but it seds "could
not start the windows installer on local computer. Error 3: the system cannot
find the path specified."
i really need help, what do i hav to do to make it work again?

Perhaps if you go to the Windows update sight it will automatically download
and install the latest installer. I know there is a new version of windows
installer being deployed via Windows update. Not sure if this is the same
installer. Either way it won't harm your system.
