windows imaging acquisition

When is Microsoft going to fix WIA in Windows XP? I have had to just diable
it on several computers in order to just save Office 2003 documents. Figures
that MS can't even get its own applications to work together These computers
have XP Home or Pro installed and all have the latest updates. Some don't
have an imaging device attached and never have and I still have to diable
WIA. Does anyone have a way to fix this other than permanently disabling WIA?

I work on many hundreds of computer and have never seen this problem. Look
for program interaction. What else is installed on "each" of the machines in
question - that is NOT part of the operating system (same printer, same net
monitoring program, same whatever). Uninstall that program from one of the
computers. Reboot and test.

It sounds like you have an Office-specific problem that should be
addressed to an Office newsgroup. I've never had a problem with WIA on
any computer - it's a huge improvement on dear old TWAIN.
