Windows 'Hanging' At Shut Down

Hey all,

Really need some advice on a query. Everytime i go to shut down Windows XP,
it closes fine to the point of 'Windows Is Now Shutting Down'. At this point
it freezes for 10+ Minutes most of the time before eventually shutting down.
I have tried a number of things, such as uninstalling programs, altering
items in the registry, and there is still no improvement. I have even tried
to a shutdown program none of which works!

Can someone please help, i am getting really annoyed with the whole
situation now, and want it resolved.

I agree...

Download and install the User Profile Hive Cleanup Service.

This decreased my shutdown time a bunch.

Hi,

I tried this, and still no solution. Still hangs at 'Windows is shutting
down' it does the rest of the logging off with quite a speed.

Any Other Ideas

Auto End Tasks to Enable a Proper Shutdown

shutdown.reg gets rid of ClearPageFileAtShutdown, turns AutoEndTasks on and
changes or adds WaitToKillServiceTimeout to 1000 Milliseconds (1 second).

If ClearPageFileAtShutdown is on, shutdown takes forever.
