windows gone crazy, especially the taskbar.

my windows has gone absolutely mental.
I had a virus.
so I deleted all my partitions and started afresh.
the first time I did so, I made the mistake of installing zonealarm before
any of my drivers. the result was zone alarm blocking my installations and
files becoming corrupted.
so I started again, bearing this in mind.
I have done the setup many times before so there should be no problem
however....
earlier today my system would not boot up.
partway through bootup I would get the bluescreen of death and my system
would reset. it then inexplicably stopped and loaded up as normal.
this time when I booted up however, my taskbar has decided to open up an
extra toolbar that is absolutely empty. I cannot get rid of it.
then it gave me a clone of the main toolbar. the one that contains all your
open windows on it. I had duplicates of every single button.
I couldn't get rid of that.
now i have an empty clone of the language bar that if I try to close it, it
unloads explorer. then loads back up again along with empty toolbar.
I keep getting these strange glitches, even though I did a clean install and
cannot imagine anything that i did wrong that could have caused it.
could the virus have embedded itself somewhere that is causing these
glitches and i cannot remove it? like in the bios or something?
could that be it?
or maybe I have just been marked by microsoft for practical jokes? heh heh.

thanks for reading and hope you get any ideas!

I have the same language bar problem on SBS Server + Terminal Server
2003. The language bar proliferates and when I deselect it, I get a
blank task bar. Any idea to stop this?
