Windows Flip what a joke

It only works in Aero.. Well after a while I got tired of the eye candy and
went back to the nice business looking Windows Classic without all the Eye
Candy. Looks nice to show off but a real pain to be using all the time. So
what happens? Windows Flip does not work in Windows Classic. So it's a big
joke! Why the hell would they make that feature only work in the eye candy
mode? What a joke.

Of course it only works in Aero. You need a 3D accelerated desktop to do
it. If you think Aero is too "eye candy" try turning off the transparency,
the colour and so on.

First of all it's eye-candy itself. It's not anywhere as useful as Expose
in MacOSX. Also, it relies on DirectX9, and is part of Aero. They cannot
include it with Windows Classic, as Classic is not a 3D interface.

Classic looks like some ugly hybrid botch. It's disgusting.

You lose all control when in Aero mode. Can't even set font type or
anything. What crap. When in non-aero mode you can set font type, and all
types of window appearance settings. Put it in Aero mode and M$ removes all
control from us. Your forced to use the view in only one way.. only thing
you can change is color and turn off transparency. No damn sense in
removing control over how we want to smooth our fonts, do we want effects on
or off.. All control is completely gone.. Hopefully someone makes a true
control and we can use Aero with appearance settings the way we wish them to
look.. Otherwise Aero is a big joke on us.

Flip 3D was a MSFT sales tool. Of course it's eye candy, and just the
mistique of what it was sold a lot of video cards--but they will help with
some games and graphics intensive apps. As a sales tool it's been over the
top successful. As a practical feature in Windows--hardly useful or needed.
MSFT is successful in large measure because of marketing.

If you don't like it then turn it off, also why didn't you get Home Basic as
with that version of Windows Vista you wouldn't have anything to complain
about because it is not included.

So you want a text based computer! We just had those a few years ago. Why
would you upgrade to a GUI based computer?! Makes no sense.

Man did you hit that nail solid! Made me smile!! :)

I see idiots everywhere... and then don't know they're idiots!

Some just don't know what they want until they have what they don't want. Of
course, that's not a very effiecent way to go through live. Trial and error
does work though, eventually. :)

No in Aero mode it is using the power of our 3D video cards. The memory of
the cards ect. In 2D these 3D cards do not enhance performance at all. So
when not in Aero mode you are not getting the full benefits of the video
card.. WDM should still be fully customizable allowing the full use of the
Video cards 3D without affecting visibility. The Seguo font is terrible..
just a terrible blurry font.. But if you want the power of 3D you ahve to
live with it.. Hopefully the new windowblinds allow us to customize aero
giving us the user the capability of using our cards to the fullest without
affecting the visual useability of the windows itself. It is not much
different than turning off graphic aceleration in gaming.. you wouldn't do
that in gaming.. so why should we have to in windows when the 3D was supoose
to be a big seller to the windows capability.

I suspect you are a novice pc user, when you become more experienced using
Vista you will find the location for controls to change Advanced Appearance
of windows, fonts and every user setting that is available in XP, and still
run Aero.

Well the appearance and settings shortcut doesn't work in aero mode..
Finally found a way into it.. and it through the help menu.. it took me
right to the correct page.. after that I created a shortcut link to the true
appearance and settings control and not the bogus one in control panel that
only works in non-aero mode. The link for shortcut pasted below...

%systemroot%\system32\control.exe desk.cpl,appearance,@appearance

Each to their own I guess. The visual presentation of Vista to me looks like
a bunch of crap. I don't see anything in Vista that I cannot do with my
present programs. "Eye candy" doesn't sell me anything.
