windows firewall problem

I am currently running norton antivirus which has a built in firewall so i've
not been using the windows firewall, however when i tried to open windows
firewall today a message came up reading 'due to unidentified problem.windows
cannot display windows firewall settings'

Any ideas - i've ran adware aswell as spyware doctor.
