Windows File Protection - Turn off in XP Home?

IS there a way to turn off Windows File Protection in XP
Home?

I've having issues with games working after install them,
but not working after running them once or letting my pc
sit for awhile. I think maybe windows file protection is
replacing a file that is causing problems.......

can i rename the 'cache' where it pulls the files to
replace them? where is this directory....

this is very frustrating, basically have to reinstall a
game or app. to use it....

as for running the game, i can see the .exe in task
manager and it goes away immediately. need help....

i've rolled back all windows updates as well.... still a
problem. i've heard from other users in other newsgroups
having the same issues with various pieces of software.
