xp Home system cannot turn off

this few days my xp home cannot torn off, windows is shutting down screen
still on, mouse cannot move, I need use power button to turn off the system.


Any one can help me

usually when windows can't shut
down it is due to windows inability
to shut down hardware first.

for example, it may not be able
to shut down your internet
connection,

thus windows can't shut down
as well.

I'll second that - I use a Thomson SpeedTouch 330 USB modem that
sometimes has to be unplugged to let Windows (XP Sp2) shut down
normally, even though I have dropped the connection long beforehand.
(It's only a minor niggle that I can live with.)

A little batch file using usbdview and shutdown.exe might
eliminate that "minor niggle".

Thanks for that, batch files can be ever so useful. I'll look into it
later this evening.
