Windows explorer

Recently whenever I try to navigate through Windows Explorer, my laptop
grinds to a horrible halt and it eventually crashes, and nothing works apart
from restarting it manually.

The computer works fine until I try and access any folder, which obviously
uses windows explorer to open it.

I'm fully updated with Windows updates and I've run Adaware, Spybot and
Trend Anti Virus software 4-5 times. Don't know what to do.

Any Ideas how to fix this.

Thanks Shar

Are there any Error / Warning Reports in Event Viewer?

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&Product=winxp

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. This will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report
complete with links into the message. Make sure this is the first paste
after exiting from Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.

Hi - I'm experiencing a similar problem where Windows Explorer freezes on my
desktop when I try to navigate through Windows Explorer.

I've a post from a couple of days on this issue with the "Subject: Windows
Explorer Freezes - have to use Task Manager to kill it".

I am pasting the info from Events Log for Applications for two related
events that were recorded for when Windows Explorer froze again as I was
navigating it.

Hope that this clarifies this related issue, and looking for resolution
......

Thanks and Regards, Ted M.
