Windows Explorer won't display

My Windows Explorer (Not IE) suddendly stopped displaying

I double-click the Icon, get a momentary hourglass, then nothing. The shortcut properties allow for Normal Window, Maximized, and Minimized startup. All produce the same results

The only indication anywhere that Explorer is running is that it appears under Task Manager. If I repeatedly click the icon, Task Manager will display multiple instances of the program, but still no display

This just suddenly started last night with no warning, and no amount of rebooting, powering off and on, etc seems to help

Any suggestions

Thanx

Already tried. No luck. Any other ideas? This is really starting to get frustrating

I even tried copying in another copy of the Explorer.exe file from another computer. Still the same results

Hi Tom,

Let's try a last step.

Go to Start > Run > cmd
put your XP CD on the CD ROM
type
sfc /scannow (press enter) (there's a space between the c and the
forward slash)
This program replaces any damaged or missing system files.
You might also want to know the locations of the folders
Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 and Windows\System32\dllcache.

Good luck
