I'm confused by what appear to be listings that duplicate.
Desktop
My Documents
My Computer - list of 12 items including
Local Disk (C:) long list including:
MYDOCS (a folder containing many folders)
JW's Documents (a folder)

"My Documents" or "MYDOCS" and "JW's Docments" all contain the same list of
folders.

One result is that when I OPEN in various locations, I'm likely to see
something different in the address window. I'm often unsure of where I am -
what the path is.

I also don't really know if my huge MYDOCS directory is actually on my
computer three times, instead of once.

It's there once. It's actual location is what shows under the "Local
Disk(C:)" listing. The other listings are to make it more convenient
for you to get to this folder.

If you have multiple user accounts on your machine, each user will
have his own "My Documents" folder, and the logged-on user's folder
will appear as "My Documents" under "Desktop", and in the various File
Open/File Save dialogs.
