Explorer not remembering "Folder" view

I have explorer setup with FOlders on the left, and files on the
right.
I used to have My Document folder open, with all the contained folders
exposed on the left, and the list of folders and files in My Documents
on the right.

I had a hardware failure, rebuilt my machine and did a "repair
install" and all is going well, except that My Document folder on the
left is "closed".
The list shows
Mty Desktop
My Documents
My Computer
My Network Places
Recycle Bin.

It used to have the "My Documents folder open, I expand it, close
explorer, and when I re-open explorer, the My Documents folder is not
expanded.

How do I make explorer remember the setting of the Folders pane?

Good Luck.

Change the Target in your Explorer shortcut to

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, /e, "C:\My Documents"

Thanks Bernd, but that wasn't what I was after.

It should have this in the left (Folders) pane.

My Desktop
My Documents
Docs folder 1
Docs folder 2
Docs folder 3
My Computer
My Network Places
Recycle Bin

Your solution gives

My Desktop
My Documents
My Computer
C: drive
D: drive
Documents and Settings
User
My Documents
E: drive
My Network Places
Recycle Bin.

Thanks anyway

Second try, nearer to what you want ;-)

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, /e, /root, "<path to your My Documents>"

Found it under Start -> All Programs -> Accesssories -> Windows Explorer

(I never use that, way to long)

If necessary; the crucial shortcut content is:

Target: %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe
Execute in: %HOMEROOT%%HOMEPATH%

Target: %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe
Execute in: %HOMEROOT%%HOMEPATH%

That's what I've got, and it used to work before the repair install.

It's set like that on my machine at work, and it does what I want, but
not on my machine at home :(

Thanks anyway.
