My Documents- Folders view

I want the My Documents folder to open like Windows Explorer does- a split
window with the folders in the left pane and their contents in the right
pane.

I open My Documents and select View / Explorer Bar / Folders. This is the
view I want. Then I select Tools / Folder Options / the View tab / Apply to
All Folders button, say OK and restart my PC.

But My Documents will still not open in Folder View mode. Am I missing
something?

To set the Folder Tree as default:

1. Open "Folder Options" then select the "File Types" tab.

2. Scroll down to "(NONE) Folder" and click it, then click the "Advanced" button (at the bottom).

3. Click on "explore" then click the "Set Default" button.

4. OK, Apply, OK.


An easier way to set the folder tree as default:

Open the Run box and enter:

reg add HKCR\Folder\shell /ve /t REG_SZ /d explore
