My Documents directory settings changed

Hi,

I run Windows XP Pro having 2 users: one admin and one user (restricted).

On the admin side I created a directory C:\MYDOCS for all my personal data.
"My Documents" is there but only in sporadic use.

Suddenly part of the content in original "My Documents" directory is
mirrored to C:\MYDOCS and all of C:\MYDOCS mirrored to "My Documents". How
should I changed the status of the directories to restore the original
state? AFAIK this problem might be caused by two experiments:
1. I have tried to get network access between Vista Bussiness PC and XP Pro
PC using NETBEUI and when I got stuck I tried to make directories Shared.
2. Vista an XP have different user profiles. I therefore created Vista user
profile in XP and XP user profile in Vista.
(Unfortunately I didn't succeed in getting the network between the two PCs
function)

Actally in location "Desktop\My Documents" -Properties - Target is "C:
\MYDOCS". I suppose there should read "C:\Documents and
Seetings\myusername\My Documents".
But what should I do to directories "My Music", "My Pictures" and "My
Widgets", that are now in directory C:\MYDOCS?

if you practicing networking,
then it is likely that the issue
of "shares" and "mapped drives"
may be providing the confusion.

be sure to disconnect networked
drives (via mycomputer) that may
be also mapping your folders.

incidentally if you have an extra
partition or disk, you may simply
want to relocate your personal
doc folder(s) off the system partition.
