How to solve a problem of directory changing on command line?

Hi,

I have XP Pro SP2 installed on my machine, which is a laptop HP 550. I have
2 partitions (C:\ and D:\). XP Pro SP2 is installed on C:\ . When I launch
the command line , a window is opened and the current directory is
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator. I want to change the directory ;I
want to have it set to D:\. So I type cd D:\ on the command line and
validate with "Enter", but the command line displays a new line and on this
line the directory is C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator (in other
terms, it's the same as the first directory it displayed) . But when I
type cd C:\ , it worked fine(in other terms, the command line displays a new
line on which the directory is C:\).
Please, how can I proceed so that when I type cd D:\ ,the command line
diplays a newline with the directory set to D:\ ?
Thanks you in advance.

Don't type "cd D:\" just type D: and press enter. If you want to start in D:
all the time, create a shortcut with the target
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe
and in the Start in box just put D:\
