Windows Explorer Shuts Itself

P

Peter

XPpro SP1. Networked via a Linksys router with a Win95b.

When I open Windows Explorer and click on "My Network Places" one of the
folders is "SharedDocs on <mycomputername>
When I open SharedDocs, I have 6 folders and 2 files. I can access the
files OK, but if I double-click on any of the folders (or right-click
and select Open), one of two things happens:

1. Explorer just closes, as if I had clicked the "close window" box.

2. The folder opens, but the "Windows Explorer has encounted a problem
and needs to close" dialog pops up, and Explorer closes after I respond
to the dialog.

This seems to happen whether or not the other computer is powered on.

Suggestions, please?

More info. If instead of trying to open "Shared Documents on
<mycomputername"> which I get to after I open "My Network Places" I just
open "Shared Documents" (under "My Computer") things work OK.
