Windows Explorer Search Failure

My Windows Explorer has forgotten how to search. When I select the type of item and the filename, then press hte "Search" button, the right panel stays blank and an empty error message box "Search Companion" comes up with no wirds, just an exclamation point icon. Any ideas on how to repair?
