Search Companion error

G

Guest

Whenever I try to search for anything in my computer, I get a message box with "Search Companion" in the heading, an exclamation point inside a triangular warning symbol and an "ok" button which has to be clicked in order to proceed. I click the ok button, but no searching is done. I'm told "To start your search, follow instructions in left pane."

Can anyone help me?

Hi Roberta,

To reinstall search, copy and paste this line in the Start > Run
prompt:

rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
%systemroot%\inf\srchasst.inf

You will need the Windows XP CD.

Good luck
