Windows Explorer - Ordering of files

Recently reinstalled OEM Windows XP Pro SP2. When setting folder defaults,
I continue to experience problems ordering the files within folders:

The problem: in 'tiles' mode, the files organize themselves not A-Z or Z-A,
but rather by the date on which they were created.

I have tried the various tweaks discussed on various sites, and still the
problem exists.

I would like to use the tile mode which lists files and sub-folders A-Z
(BTW, the 'show in groups' mode simply has never worked in tile or icon
mode)...

Thanks

Let me try to communicate this better:

Here is how I would like to see the files listed as a default in Windows
Explorer:

In TILES MODE and ARRANGE BY TYPE and SHOW IN GROUPS:

Adobe Acrobat Files
A file
B file
C file

Microsoft Excel Files
A file
B file
C file

Microsoft Word Document Files
A file
B file
C file

SmartDraw Drawing Files
A file
B file
C file

IS THIS POSSIBLE? I try to set this as default, but again, Windows Explorer
always defaults to organizing the files WHEN THEY WERE CREATED
