Why doesn't XP remember the viewing type which i set already?

I ran across this annoying problem in XP Home SP2 when using removable
devices such as Flash drives, mass storage devices...

Although i do not want to see files in ''tiles'' type for viewing in
Windows Explorer, i set to ''icon'' viewing type but still as soon as
i enter folders, they are displayed as ''tiles'' viewing mode.

WHY?

I set it ti ''icon'' type but it is displayed in ''tiles'' viewing
mode.

Thank you.
