Lost Help and Support Centre + problem tiling windows
I have noticed two changes to my, (Windows XP home edition), computer
recently.
1) Clicking the taskbar and selecting "tile windows vertically" or "tile
windows horizontally" does not work.
2) If I go to Windows Help and Support and click on index, I just get a
blank square with a small red cross on the top right-hand side on the top
right-hand side. It seems that these programs/files are missing from my
computer.
I have tried 2 different approaches to fix it, (A and B described below),
and neither worked. Now I would like to ask: --
1) Is there a website to download some Help and Support "repair" so that my
Windows can be tiled or cascaded in the normal way?
2) Where can I download a PDF equivalent, (or other text format), to Windows
Help and Support, that I could refer to ?

Lost Help and Support Centre for Windows XP Home edition
A
Check C:\WINDOWS\pchealth\helpctr\binaries , run NelpCtr.exe , thats the
executable for help and support center.

The files found in \binaries were :-
brpinfo.dll
HCAppRes.dll
helpctr
HelpHost
helpsvc
hscsp_p3
hscupd
msconfig
msinfo.dll
notiflag
pchdt_p3
pchshell.dll
pchsvc.dll
but NelpCtr.exe was not there.

If nothing happens or you cant find those folders:
try this.. go to c:\windows\inf ... right click on pchealth.inf and in the
popup menu click on install.
It will show a simple copying files, and when is done, try your start icons.

This just opens as :-
c:\windows\inf\IEM\0409 so there was no pchealth.inf to right click on.

Your help is much appreciated - Ian

19 June: The window shrink and resize problem has mysteriously corrected
itself, so I no longer need help on that one; but I appreciate the level of
expertise of your group and plan to keep reading and learning more from you
guys.
Thanks - Ian
