Try :
from http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Alas, it doesn't launch.
It just gives the message:
Windows cannot open Help and support because a system service is not
running. To fix this, start the service named "help and support".
How do I find this service?
Thanks.

Click Start, Run and type SERVICES.MSC
Start the Help and Support service.

I Tried Kellys-Korner, but when I try to merge the Restore Help &
Support script with the Registry, it says:
"The specified field is not a Registry script"
Now I'm stumped (as they say in Cricket).
Are there any other options I can try?

The other link (On Ramesh's site) is better :
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/reg/startmenuhelp.reg

Try that.

Marcel,

Applied the REG fix from here?
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/helpsvc.htm
It restores the missing Helpsvc service.

I downloaded and installed helpsvc.zip, then ran services.msc and tried
to start the Help and Support service, but I got the following message:
"The executable program that this service is configured to run in does
not implement the service."
Is there anything left for me to try?

Resolve the Help and Support Service startup failures:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/helpsvcfix.htm

In that does not help, try reinstalling Help and Support Center using this method:

Click Start, Run and type "%systemroot%\inf". Right-click the file PCHealth.inf file and choose "Install". Insert your XP CD when prompted. If you have a Service Pack installed, be sure to point to the %Windir%\i386\ServicePackFiles folder, or your slipstreamed XP CD (if available).

Thanks, Ramesh.
I have tried that, but without success.
Any other suggestions would be welcome.

This link from Kelly's Korner fixed mine!!
This script repairs Windows Help and Support if you have run any Reg Cleaners:
Repairs Windows® XP Help and Support after running Easy Cleaner or similar
registry cleaners.
