HI,

my xp pro computer is not able to run help and support feature which
activates upon pressing F1 on the desktop.

it shows that helpctr.exe is not available.

to make sure, i searched the same on another xp pro machine and then copied
the same to my relative folder, i.e.

helpctr.exe to
C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386

HELPCTR.EXE-19FDF547.pf to
C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch

i have this 3 different file sized versions
HELPCTR.EXE-19FDF547.pf 15 KB
HELPCTR.EXE-19FDF547.pf 18 KB
HELPCTR.EXE-19FDF547.pf 53 KB

which one is the valid one

now when i run helpctr in binaries folder, it shows to start the service
named Help and support service.

for this i went through services in adminitrative tools but didnt find any.

so where can i do the fixing stuff to solve this problem.

help me out...

There is a download with directions available on Ramesh's Site to restore
the Help and Support service if missing in Services.

Additional note for reinstalling Help Center (if needed):

Reinstalling Help and Support Center using the INF file.
=====================================

Open C:\Windows\Inf folder and locate the PCHealth.inf file (might show as
PCHealth in W.Explorer). Right-click the file and choose "Install". Insert
your XP CD when prompted. If you have a Service Pack installed, be sure to
point to the %Windir%\i386\ServicePackFiles folder, or your slipstreamed XP
CD.
