Windows Explorer hides Directories

Explorer hides directories. For instance. If I clic

Directories and Settiin
Owne
Loca
Temporary Interne

That where it stop

But I know there are sub directoris inxcluding Content and several below that

I hanes the preference set to show Hidden Files and Systems files

Why are these directories hidden

I can go to "Search" and ask it to find Content and or sub sdirectories when i know thier name and "Search" will reveal it

I have tried using other Windows Explorer type programs, but they do the same thing

I recently had a Trojan Horse in one of those hidden directorles and it was very compllicated to get it out because as far as Explorer was concerned, there was no such directory

Be sure you have done this Bill
To configure Windows to show all files
Start Windows Explorer.
Click the View menu (Windows 98) or the Tools menu (Windows Me/2000/XP), and then click Options or Folder options.
Click the View tab.
Uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Do one of the following:
In Windows 98: In the Advanced settings box, under the "Hidden files" folder, click Show all files.
In Windows Me/2000/XP: Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files," and under the "Hidden files" folder, click "Show hidden files and folders.
Click Apply, and then click OK

As I said in another newsgroups where some people speak about "smoke
and mirrors" when talking about IE's cache and history, the point is
to use the right tools.
Explorer lies about folder content and wondering why Content.IE5 or
Index.dat are not visible is like wearing sunglasses and wondering
why the sky is dark.
Just remove the sunglasses (Explorer) and you will see the light. :D
Even with all options enabled, some files/folders are hidden.
Why are some files/folders hidden ? I don't know. I've heard it's
for security reason. Or it's maybe a security against the user
itself ? With non-MS OS, when you ask to see all files, you see
all files. So why MS can't provide us a special mode to see really
all files ?

There are situations where it is mandatory to have access to all files
hidden/system or whatever name MS gives to them. This is one of these
situations.
I quit Explorer (as file manager) a long time ago and I use Total
Commander which shows me the real content of my drive, not what MS
wants me to see. Winfile can also be useful for those who want to use
MS tools. Here to download :

Well, now I know it isn't me. I will try another file manager. I have PowerDesk, but it does the same thing

It seems pretty stupid to me, because you can find the directories using search on XP, but you must know the names of the hidden directories so it gets complicated

Thank
