Java 6 creates directories/files that explorer can't see

I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate on a new computer and installed JRE 6. I
use a website that runs Java applets which store site data in a directory
which the applet creates. On Windows XP, this directory was in Documents and
Settings\username. When I access this website/run the applets under Vista,
the applets work fine - they are obviously storing and retrieving the data
correctly, but when I use Windows Explorer or Search I can't see them. I
have folders set to show hidden and system files and when I search I search
hard drives with the checkbox to search hidden/system files. I still can't
see them.

However, when I run the admistrative Java applet on this website that allows
you to choose the directory to store data, the Java applet sees the directory
and files it created. The directory is in Users\username in Vista. I've
seen other posts here on compatibility files, but when I use Windows explorer
to view users\username, it doesn't show a "compatibility files" label or box.
I also checked the VirtualStore directory in Appdata/local, but there's
nothing in there pertaining to these applets.

Any idea what's going on? Thanks.

Sorry, I haven't. I think the author of the applet needs to make it more
Vista compliant.
