Windows Explorer has encountered a problem

A dialogue box appears on my screen from time to time, most frequently when
I click on My Network Places. "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem
and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". It occassionaly
appears in some programs. When I click on "don't send" the screen refreshes
and any applications I am running are closed.

Is there a simple way to get this message to disappear. When I drag it to
the side of the screen I am still able to work, save, etc.

Will SP2 solve this problem? Thanks.

XP is designed to manage critical sytem faults much better than previous
Windows versions.

The roor message that you have received reminds you that XP has recovered
from a critical problem. It cannot be turned off and by the same token,
should not be ignored.

There is something wrong with your PC: either the application itself is
incorrectly installed [or badly written] or there is a memory related fault
[it could be a faulty memory module or motherboard item].

In your case I would suggest running anti spyware to see if there are any
nasties and if none arfe revealed, attempt a repair installation of XP.
