"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close....

Happens when searching for video's or inserting a DVD with video's.
System freezes up unless I close the search results using task manager.

Tried repairing with windows XP CD but after I press "r" for repair it just
goes around in circles.
 
From the event log in case it helps:
Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module
qedit.dll, version 6.5.2600.2180, fault address 0x00064486."
