Windows Explorer ... needs to close ....

I recently captured some video of a friends workshop, created a folder within
the "My Video" folder and saved it there. Now when I go to open the "My
Video" folder I'm getting the following error.

Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenienc
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.5512, faulting module
shmedia.dll, version 6.0.2900.5512, fault address 0x0000ac54
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It only happens when I try to open the "My Videos" folder.

Any help, please...

Peace,
Elemental

Thanks for the tool but it didn't fix my problem, it's still doing the same
thing.

I don't think it's a virus or mallware however, I've been using Avast
antivirus for some time now and I run Ad-Aware every other month or so, so
I'm pretty sure it's not that.

Any other ideas on what I can do to fix the problem?

Peace, Elemental

i have experienced similar problems on rare occassion. it seems the
actual folder gets corrupted some how. i've found simply deleting the
folder and recreating works fine. if you have files within the folder
download directory opus or similar....

Thanks for the advise, but I found a fix to the problem at:
http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/3588p1.html

Basically remove the media preview;
Start, Run, cmd then type:
regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll
enter

This allowed me to open the folder and remove the files that were causing
the error. Once I was done I reinstalled the media preview;
Start, Run, cmd then type:
regsvr32 shmedia.dll
enter

And that was that, worked like a charm (so far)

Peace,

After downloading the "FixAll" tool from The Real Truth MS MVP you need to
take extra care to check everything is OK. You were unwise to download from
an individual who is notorious for his questionable activities.

Glad you fixed your problem and thanks for reporting the solution.

I don't have a "Fix All" tool idiot. Why do you get so jealous when some one
uses my tools? If you want to prove that my software is bad then post proof.
Find a post from anyone who used my software who said it broke their
computer, crashed their computer or made it worse. Most of my stuff is a
batch file, open it in notepad and post a line of text that you think is
wrong. I won't hold my breath because you won't find any. Now get lost
troll.

AFAIK it never or rarely does fix a problem. This why I called it a
"FixAll" tool. Has anyone ever looked to see if different tools are offered
or is it always the same tool? I am amazed at the number of users who
download from such an obviously dubious source.

I'm amazed also. He has damaged some computers in the past. Too many people
believe his MVP tag as real.
In his case it means Most Vile Poster.
